Abstract The fault in direct torque control of brushless DC motor(BLDC) and errors brought by the sector division,such as the error between the expected result and the one obtained by exerting real space voltage vectors in current six sectors division,were discussed.A new principle of twelve sectors division was proposed to overcome the fault.Furthermore the switch table for twelve sectors division was made.The simulation and experimental results prove that direct torque control of BLDC using twelve sectors division can reduce the torque ripple greatly,thus the high-performance control of BLDC can be realized.
