Abstract To improve biological performance on titanium alloy surface, micro-arc oxidation (MAO) method was used to prepare ceramic oxide layer containing calcium and phosphor on surface of Ti6Al4V alloy. The effects of oxidation time on. the surface morphologies, thickness, elements, phase contents of the MAO coatings were investigated when a constant current regime of micro-arc oxidation was applied. The results show that with the increasing of oxidation time, the roughness of the coating surface increases gradually, the growth rates of the MAO coatings decrease, the content of calcium increases in proportion to the time, the content of phosphor increases degressively and the relative content of anatase TiO2 first increases, then decreases.
