Abstract To deeply understand the solidliquid twophase flow state and predict the wear of the semi open cutting pump, the standard kε turbulence model was used based on the ANSYS CFX. The distributions of particle volume and velocity of blades under different solid volume fractions and flow rates were investigated, and the distributions of particle volume and velocity of rotating blades were also analyzed. The effects of solid and liquid phases on inner flow field were discussed. The results show that the velocity distribution of solid phase on the blade pressure surface is lower than that on the suction surface, while the volume fraction is larger than that on the suction surface. The largest velocity of solid phase is obtained on the blade tail, while the largest solid volume fraction of solid phase is obtained at the blade head. For the rotating blade, the solid phase velocities at the exit of working face and the back face near rotating shaft are large, while the solid volume fraction is large at the working surface near the rotating shaft with severe wear. The flow conditions have obvious effects on pressure distribution, velocity distribution and solid distribution.
