Abstract To improve the ride comfort of wheel loader driver during operation, a wheel loader semiactive seat suspension was proposed based on the damping multistate switching damper. The design principle and the oil flow behaviors of target damper were analyzed to establish the mathematical model of damper. The damper rebound and the compression damping coefficients under four damping states were obtained by the simulation analyses, and the hybrid dynamical model of wheel loader semiactive seat suspension was also established. The hybrid model predictive control strategy with fuzzy adaptive adjustment of weight coefficients for the semiactive seat suspension was designed, and the control performance simulation analysis was conducted under random road excitation. The simulation results show that the proposed wheel loader semiactive seat suspension and the control strategy can effectively reduce the seat vertical vibration by 35.71% and reduce the suspension dynamical deflection by 30.88%, and the ride comfort of wheel loader driver during operation is improved significantly.
