Abstract To treat translation as cross-cultural rewriting is no other than to break the inherent expectation of translation embodied in the traditional ideas about translation. It is to treat translation as an intercultural practice and translated text as intertext. This paper tries to investigate the performance of the rewriting translation at various cultural and literary levels from the viewpoint of interculturality so as to find a more valid ways to understand the rheology and hybridity of cross-cultural communication.
