Abstract In the United States, the Nobel laureate Pearl S. Buck was not only sneezed at by male writers, but also criticized by feminist writers. It is not because she didn' t inherit women' s literary tradition as some white western feminist critics believe, but because she is a unique feminist rooted in both Eastern and Western world. Although she came from a white American middle class family and was quite familiar with the white feminist theory, she was different from white feminists and had no prejudice against the third world women, since she grew up in the third world environment and knew very well about the real situation of them. Under the third world feminist perspective, Pearl S. Buck is a true feminist beyond time and space, and her special thought actually gets more and more attention and praise from present scholars.
