Abstract Helvetius’s discussion of man’s problems is centered on interests, arguing that interests are the moral principle and the motive of man’s development . Marx holds the needs and interests drive man to work and productivity is the decisive force for social development, and thus shows the historical mission of proletariat . Deng Xiaoping insists that all men have the right to pursue their lawful ones. There are no collective interests without individual ones. The effective way of realizing men’s interests of the people is to establish a socialist market economy system. “Development is of paramount importance.” The three leaps in materialist view of interests give rise to the three improvements of development view. The three thinkers’ view of interests are the three monuments in the development course of materialist interests view.
