Abstract Chinese cultural symbols are the emblem of Chinese civilization and culture. In the age of social media, the dissemination medium of Chinese cultural symbols has undergone historic changes. The social media platforms, such as WeChat and Douyin, have created a new context for the dissemination of Chinese cultural symbols, providing new opportunities for their spread. Modern interpretation and dissemination of Chinese cultural symbols through creative and good use of social media is conducive to establishing and highlighting these symbols and the Chinese national images shared by all ethnic groups, and realizing the leading role of these symbols in consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation. To construct the dissemination path of the Chinese cultural symbols in the age of social media, it is necessary to clarify the political direction, highlight the dominant position of mainstream media, and give play to the leading role of public service advertisements in the dissemination of these cultural symbols.
