Abstract This paper empirically investigated the impact of rural digital economic development on agricultural carbon emissions. The results show that the development of rural digital economy significantly reduces the emissions. The impact of rural digital economy on agricultural carbon emission reduction is more significant in the eastern and western regions and the areas with high scientific and technological input. So, this paper puts forward the following suggestions: Build a complete and perfect rural digital economic infrastructure, and build a unified agricultural and rural data platform; Increase financial input in central and western China and northeast China, and promote the coordinated development of digital economy among regions; Increase scientific and technological input , encourage agricultural research and innovation, and promote green and lowcarbon development of agriculture.
