Abstract In this study, the soil of the ″Bohai Granary″ science and technology demonstration area in Wudi County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province was taken as the research object. The propose was to find the response characteristics of water-salt distribution and soil evaporation characteristics of saline soil to sand mixing. The effect of different amounts of sand mixed(sand-soil mass ratios were 0, 10%, 30%, 50% and 70%, respectively, denoted by CK, T1, T2, T3, and T4)conditions on the salt-salt transport characteristics and soil evaporation indexes were analyzed. The results showed that the average soil water content of 0-1 cm layer during the 0-5 000 min period for T1 and T2 is 50.0% and 40.7% higher than CK, while it is 36.3% and 18.7% lower than CK for T3 and T4, respectively; and the average electrical conductivity(EC)of 0-1 cm layer for T1, T2, T3 and T4 was 16.3%, 30.2%, 8.1% and 22.4% lower than that of CK, respectively. The average evaporation rate of CK, T1, T2, T3 and T4 treatment is 1.52×10-3, 2.08×10-3, 1.49×10-3, 2.03×10-3 and 1.52×10-3 mm/min during the 0-5 000 min period; while it is 0.79×10-3, 0.44×10-3, 0.47×10-3, 0.26×10-3 and 0.35×10-3 mm/min during the 5 001-14 000 min period.
