Abstract The basket of the disc separator is a complex cone.According to the traditional algorithm of the strength,the results often have an enormous surplus,which affect the overall economic indicators of the separator.To solve this problem,based on the finite elements stress analysis,an optimized mathematical model for the disc separator basket is set up,which takes the total weight of the basket as target function,and some of its structure parameters as optimization parameters.The interior-point method of penalty function is used to solve the mathematical model,which is a multi-dimension constrained optimization problem.An algorithm flow chart is also given.Considering the strength and inflexibility of the basket,the optimization result of an actual basket indicates that the quality of the basket can be reduced by(24.2%.)So mechanical efficiency of the basket is increased and its life is prolonged.basket;drip irrigation;disc separator;optimum design;finite element method
