Abstract It is well-known that the running condition of hydraulic turbines could be deviated from the designed condition at any time.So the parameter controlling of the PID governor is very important for the stability of hydraulic turbines.Aimed at the hydraulic turbine PID governor,based on the control theory and the basic state equations,and by nalyzing the adjustable parameters about the hydraulic turbine PID governor,the target function is constructed and the optimization method and theories are derived.According to the cases study,it shows that the method of parameter optimization has higher optimizing efficency.The drawbacks of the method are that one must construct the corresponding target function and perform complicated iterations.
