Abstract A special system of model test for flow pattern in a suction box of pumping station was designed, and a new method is put forward to carry out the model test for verifying a vertices band in suction box without relative model pump. Examples of model test applying the new method to verify vertices band in both “half elbow” suctionb oxa nd “bell-like” two-way suction box are illustrated respectively. Based on the two examples the advantages of the new method are summarized.
