Abstract The basic theory of serial port communication technology is introduced; the hardware configuration and software design of a new leakage data collection system of mechanical seals of high performance is described as well. The mechanical seal leakage data can be collected, saved, and can be plotted with this system. After the results and some influencing factors being analyzed, the theoretical bases for the manufacture of this mechanical seal is given.
