Abstract The structure forms and features of pumping station of low head in common use are introduced.In conjugating with FeiJiaYu pumping station of Xi Tang River project in Su Zhou city, shaft-well tubularpump unit and the design for its flow passage and way for cut off are presented. This unit has passed theexamination of test run, and is adopted MeiLianghu pumping station of flood control project in Wu Xi city anda pumping station in Changzhou city. The result shows that the shaft-well tubular pump unit, when comparedwith bulk tubular pump, has some obvious merits such as a simpler structure, saving engineer investment, easyto manage and maintain, so its application should be spread out more.
