Abstract Thispaperintroducesthehistoryandpresentstatusofthevortexpump,andanalysedtherela-tionshipbetweenthegeometricalparametersandpumpperformance.Theinnerflowshapeandflowmodel,andthedesignmethodsofthevortexpump.Onthebasisofthestudybyfomerresearchers,predictsthede-velopmentdirectionofthevortexpump.Testingtheinnerflowshapethroughpredeterminetechnic,found-ingnewflowmodelandbringingforwardentireandapplieddesignmethodsareemphasisresearchforthefuture.
