Abstract In order to analysize the inner flow mechanism in the mechanical seal with laser-textured porous face,the single pore of sealing surface was chosen as a model and the N-S equation and k-ε equations were computed based on Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) method.The distributions of pressure,velocity and energy were educed when there was no differential pressure on the two sides of ring,as well as the distributions of a static and dynamic pressure when there had differential pressure on the two sides of ring.By analysis,it is found that a suitable size of micro-pore can cause hydrodynamic pressure effect produce a open force in the meantime.Influenced by the pressure difference on the two sides of micro-pore face,the dynamic pressure was changed there,producing film resistance and preventing leaking.This work can give some theoretical references for better understanding of hydrodynamic pressure effect in the mechanical seal with porous seal ring face and optimal design of micro lubricative pores.
