Abstract:Reverse engineering can supply geometrical models for numerical simulation, FEM, RP, digitized production, and optimization design. Based on VC++ 6.0, using MFC, ADO, OpenGL, VTK and other developing tools, applying modular programming technology, targeted at high quality ICT images from pump impeller, through a series of algorithms on digital image processing, such as image preprocessing, two dimensional image processing, and two dimensional geometry processing, fulfilling surface reconstruction and transformation of the image sequence from BRep to 3D solid model, a multiinputandoutinterfaced reverse engineering software for pump impeller, ReImpeller, was developed. By applying ReImpeller, a reconstructed threedimensional model of the impeller with high accuracy was obtained. Rapid prototyping was also obtained through exporting STL. The shape error between the reconstructed impeller part and its prototype is only 0.64%, indicating that ReImpeller is feasible and practical.
