Abstract:To learn about the flow behavior of centrifugal pumps handling different fluids under different operating conditions,numerical simulations were conducted by FLUENT,in which Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations are discretized by finite volume method,and the pressure-velocity relation is coupled by SIMPLEC algorithm.According to the comparison and analysis of the simulated results,it was found that different viscosities have much influence on the performance of centrifugal pump.At the same flow rates,the head decreases with the viscosity increasing.The efficiency changes little near the design point,while changes great when far away from the design points.The simulation results show that the internal pressure and velocity distribution with different viscosities are almost similar with that of water.
