Abstract:In order to explore the influence of flexible fiber particles on the hydraulic characteristics and flow characteristics of centrifugal pumps, a model pump made of transparent plexiglass was used to conduct hydraulic characteristic tests and PIV tests to observe the influence of flexible fiber particles with different mass fractions on pump performance. The results show that when the centrifugal pump transports a certain mass fraction of fiber suspension, the head does not change significantly compared with that of clear water, but the efficiency is improved to a certain extent. Among them, the efficiency increases by 3.37% when delivering the fiber suspension with a mass fraction of 0.3%. As the flow increases, the velocity in the flow channel increases steadily without large fluctuations. As far as fiber suspension is concerned, the blade has a higher controllability for the flow field under high mass fraction conditions, and the flow in the channel appears more stable. This study verified the phenomenon of fiber drag reduction, quantified the effect of drag reduction, and provides a method reference for testing with higher mass fraction of fibers.
