Abstract:In spray cooling for metal cutting,the liquid is directly atomized.With evaporation of the droplets the heat is taken away and the temperature of the cutting area is cooled.The key factor of the spraying is the droplet size.The smaller the droplet and the bigger its surface area,the evaporation happens more easily.The experimental study on an air atomizing spray by PDA is presented,and the spray characteristics such as droplet diameter and velocity are obtained.Experiment showed that the nozzle aperture and the air pressure have great influence on the spray characteristics.The optimum condition of the spray was investigated.spray characteristics;droplet diameter;droplet velocity;PDA
