Abstract:In this paper,the mathematical model of water-hammer protection by air vessel is established.The pipeline transient pressure under two kinds of conditions that installing and not installing air vessel are calculated,the paper analyzed the affect of varying vessel capacity and state of air compression in air vessel on the pressure surge recorded at the vessel-pipeline junction.It points out that an air vessel can efficiently protect the pipeline avoiding damage caused by water hammer.
