Prediction of Performance for Dissimilar Centrifugal Pumps Coupled in Series or in Parallel

Abstract:There are several operating systems in which two or more dissimilar centrifugal pumps coupled in series or in parallel, and this kind of operation is complicated. However, the classical graphical solution of combined characteristics does not attain the whole combined characteristics in pump mode of the pump system. To predict the full flow fields, it is necessary to take into account the flow characteristics in two dissipative modes. Applying the theory, the whole combined characteristics are acquired in pump mode region by graphical or calculating method.
