Abstract:In order to alleviate environmental pollution in Urumqi, a stand-alone hybrid wind/PV/ba-ttery power system was systematically studied for this region; as a result, a DC bus-based new system was proposed. The wind turbines, PV modules and lead-acid batteries in the system were modeled respectively, and the two principal economic models include the total net present cost(NPC)and the levelized cost of energy(LCE). At the same time, the reliability of the system was expressed in terms of loss of power supply probability(LPSP). The hybrid system design was optimized by means of genetic algorithm(GA)with a series of data of wind speed, solar radiation and user load in that region. As a result, the proposed stand-alone hybrid wind/PV/battery power system can be served as a new type of power generation in Urumqi to reduce the emissions of total suspended particulate(TSP), sulfur dioxide(SO2)and nitrogen oxides(NOx)etc. The optimal hybrid system consists of one wind turbine with 1 kW capacity, 12.561 1 m2 PV module and batteries with 14.701 9 kW·h capacity. The system has a loss of power supply probability of 0.019 8 and the minimum total cost of 87 262 Yuan.
