Abstract Among current studies of organizational form classification of discipline groups, there are some problems, such as different standards and unclear dimensions, and too abstract classification to effectively connect with actual forms. The discipline group development should follow the triple logic of internal knowledge development, organizational system construction and external power influence. Based on triple logic results, there are three dimensions of differences formed: knowledge juxtaposition and integration, organization and nonorganization, planning and autonomy. According to this, the discipline group organization can be divided into eight forms. As components of the university discipline ecosystem, these forms of discipline group organizations functionally support each other. In future construction of discipline group organizations in universities, it is necessary to speed up internal ability construction of various discipline group organizations, so as to enable them to undertake the mission of knowledge integration; to further advance the reform of management and culture to promote value realization of discipline group organizations; to ensure coexistence and mutual support of all kinds of discipline group organizations to promote the discipline ecosystem development.
