| The analysis on the focus and trend of institutional research in China |

Abstract The paper studies 197 papers which focus on “institutional research” in CNKI by visualized analysis which included three research methods: word frequency analysis, social network and multidimensional scale analysis. The result shows that the current research of Chinese institutional research focuses on four aspects including the nativist development of institutional research, the diversity of research methods about institutional research, the application in the quality research of higher education of institutional research and its application in strategic research about universities at different levels. Finally, the research predicts the trend of Chinese institutional research in the era of "worldclass universities and worldclass disciplines".
