Abstract:In the context of "the Belt and Road" initiative and the internationalization of higher education, global competency has been a core competency that postgraduates should have. This study defines the concept of the postgraduates′ global competency, and constructs its framework and designs the assessment scale. We also did a survey by sampling postgraduates in 5 universities in Beijing, and analyzed the structure and the impact factors. This study finds that: (1) the postgraduates′ global competency has three dimensions and nine factors; (2) there are significant differences among the three dimensions, and the crosscultural skill gets the worst achievement in the ranking of the three dimensions; (3) postgraduates′ global competency is affected by some individual characteristics and international experiences. We also proposed some suggestions on how to cultivate and promote their global competency.
