From discipline crisis to discipline breakthroughs: the study of the transdevelopment of unpopular disciplines in higher education

Abstract:Every subject is a branch of the multicultural system, which carries unique historical contribution and social value. In order to reverse the irrationalities on unpopular discipline development, according to developmental potential, market demand and the number of students, unpopular disciplines are classified. By clarifying the unpopular disciplines in students admission, cultivation units distribution, structure of teachers and employment status,the author maintains that the development of the unpopular disciplines in higher education is hampered by the cognitive deviation, publicity orientation, employment status, disciplinary boundaries,academic right and supporting resources. In order to stimulate the culture, science and technology strength of unpopular disciplines,the following aspects including discipline development strategy, layout of disciplines, training modes, discipline orientation,discipline cluster and external system development may help to resolve the disciplinary crisis and make a breakthrough.
