Paths and implications of engineering innovative talent cultivation in the context of emerging agriculture: based on the practice of engineering innovative talent cultivation in N University

Abstract: New agriculture, countryside, farmers and ecology have put forward an unprecedented important mission for agricultural and forestry engineering education in the new era. In the early stage of development, N University faces a series of difficulties in engineering talent cultivation: the old-fashion education and teaching system is out of line with scientific and technological development; education concepts lag behind, not fitting with industry talent cultivation demands; ideological and political education is weak, not matching the task of fostering virtue through education. Under the background of emerging agricultural education, in order to better cultivate engineering innovative talents, N University has deepened the reform of the talent cultivation mechanism and mode, and explored the characteristic development path of engineering education in agricultural and forestry universities: focusing on talent cultivation quality, and reconstructing the education and teaching system of cross-fused forestry engineering specialties; based on needs of the agriculture and forestry industry, and establishing an integrated and innovative talent training mode; strengthening the reform of educational thinking, and shaping new concepts of forestry engineering education. Facing emerging agricultural education, and establishing training targets of engineering innovative talents with characteristics of "knowing agriculture and forestry, serving agriculture and forestry, and loving agriculture and forestry", practical exploration of engineering education reform in N University provides beneficial experience for domestic agricultural and forestry universities to seek endogenous development of engineering talent cultivation: to strengthen interdisciplinary and cross-border integration, and reconstruct the education and teaching system of agricultural and forestry engineering disciplines and related majors; to construct the "research-production-study" collaborative training mode, and strengthen the cultivation of students′ quality and ability; to adhere to the guidance of fostering virtue through education, and strengthen curriculum ideological and political education.
