Abstract:Deepening the reform of the doctoral examination enrollment system is an important prerequisite for ensuring the quality of doctoral training. This study uses "Graduate Students Satisfaction Survey" data to empirically study the relevance between the "applicationexamination" system and the quality of doctoral training. The research results show that academic and general abilities of doctoral students admitted through the "applicationexamination" system are improved more during the period of learning, and after using the PSM method to overcome the endogenous problem, the conclusion is still valid; the degree of individual efforts plays a partially intermediary role in the improvement of academic and general abilities of doctoral students admitted through the "applicationexamination" system, for the "applicationexamination" system selects the candidates who have more potentials in academic and general abilities and who work harder at the same time. Therefore, China should give full play to the important role of the "applicationexamination" system in the process of selecting highquality doctoral students, improve the internal reliability of the "applicationexamination" system, and explore the establishment of the verification and scoring system of structured data of application materials.
